The Heels for Days Sock Club starts October 1, 2025.
Over 10 months, from October 2025 to July 2026, you’ll get a new sock heel pattern at the beginning of each month. These include:
- 10 heel patterns
- 2 basic sock patterns that work with any heel: one top-down and one toe-up.
- 1 extra sock pattern
About the aknitica heels:
I’ve been developing this family of heels over the past year or so, and the first one published is on Knitty magazine! It’s called Palindrome, and you can go knit it there for free. (Knitty.com is the longest-running online knitting magazine, and it’s amazing and all it’s patterns are free. AND they pay their designers.)
These heels are made with a combination of short rows and increases/decreases, and their arrangement makes a lovely diagonal stripe when viewed from the sides. They’re roomier than a typical short-row heel, which I’ve always found to be a bit too shallow for my feet.
While I was experimenting with heel ideas, I tried many different combinations of stitches, and one idea led to another, until I found that I had knit multiple variations that each had the potential to become real patterns. (I also knit many that were great “learning opportunities,” especially in the beginning.)
There are at least 3 shaping variations so far, and each month you’ll receive a different pattern that expands and plays with one of the 3 variants. You’ll end up with a pretty collection of heel patterns to use at whim whenever you’re knitting socks, whether top down or toe up.
